Squarespace Basics: Selecting a Pricing Plan

As a website designer, I design a website for my client and hand it over to them once complete. There are no further monthly or annual fee payments for my services. All websites are designed on a Squarespace platform. Yearly or monthly hosting fees are paid to Squarespace. If a domain is purchased elsewhere, it could be kept where purchased or brought into Squarespace. The client does not have an account with May Web Design, LLC that includes hosting or domain.

If a client should need further help in the future, I have packages for maintenance and special projects. The purpose of my website design business is to design a professional website for my client and teach them to make their own updates and changes so they can take ownership of their website without having to pay me monthly or annual fees.

Squarespace offers only FOUR pricing plans that can be paid for monthly or yearly:

• Personal

• Business

• Basic Commerce

• Advanced Commerce

Let’s look at the pricing plans in a little more depth:

Personal Pricing Plan

I like to refer to this as a brochure website plan. This is mostly an informational website that does not accept donations or sell products on the website.

Included in this plan is:

• SSL Security, visitors will see a green lock showing the security as they visit the website

• Unlimited bandwidth and storage

• SEO (Search Engine Optimization) built into each page and website. Search Engine Optimization means maximizing the number of visitors to your website. Squarespace has that all built in!

• Templates for website design

• Only two contributors - 2 email addresses for the website

• Websites are built to view on all devices

• Monday-Friday chat function and 24/7 email website support

• Website Metrics (basic)

• Extensions to add onto website (some fees from third party vendors may apply)

Business Pricing Plan

This website plan is for small businesses and nonprofits who would like to have a donation button on their page.

This plan includes everything that a personal plan offers plus:

• Unlimited contributors

• Integrations blocks (fees may apply through third party vendors)

• Promotional Pop Ups and Banners

• Added Analytics

• Fully integrated E-commerce with transaction fees

• Accept Donations

• Sell Gift Cards

Basic Commerce Pricing Plan

This pricing plan includes everything the personal and business plans offers plus:

• Functions as an in person point of sale through Square

• Checkout on your website domain

• Commerce Analytics

• Inventory Features

• Sync with Facebook to post products on Instagram

Advanced Commerce Pricing Plan

This pricing plan includes everything personal, business, and basic commerce pricing plans offer plus:

• Abandoned Cart emails

• More shipping options

• More discount options

• Third party customization to fulfill inventory needs

Subscriptions - Subscriptions tied to the website may be managed here. Any necessary changes can be made in this area.
