Squarespace Basics: Commerce|Online Shopping Discounts

Discounts are a great incentive for any business. From time to time a business may want to offer different discounts for their online community and social media following. Squarespace makes discounts easy to create and manage for small businesses.

Keep in mind there are two Commerce Pricing plans. Squarespace offers a Basic Commerce and Advance Commerce. I will note which options require the Advance Commerce plan. You can refer to the Squarespace pricing plan for more detailed information. https://www.squarespace.com/pricing/

Creating a Discount

1. Name - Give your discount a name. This will appear to the customer during the checkout.

2. Trigger - This could be triggered automatically (you must have Squarespace Commerce Advanced for this function) or by using a Discount Code. The Discount Code can be generated automatically in Squarespace, or you can create your own custom Discount Code.

3. Promotion - This selection gives you three options. You may choose to take a percentage off, a specific dollar amount off or offer free shipping.

4. Applies To - In this area you specify how to apply the promotion. You can choose any order or orders only over a certain amount of money and specify which shipping options will be applied.

5. The next three categories are only available on the Advanced Commerce plan. They allow more control over discounts such as limit total discount code uses across your website, limit individual customer uses, and limit subscription discounts.

6. The last choice you will make will be the expiration of the discount. You can choose the start date and time and the expiration date and time or mark the discount to never expire.

7. When finished make sure to click Save in the upper left-hand corner.

Discounts are a great marketing tools to your online customers and across your social media platforms. Creating occasional discounts and advertising them will have visitors look at your website. Good Luck!
