Squarespace Basics: Shape Blocks

Solid Shape to add to your design.

Shape blocks enhance your website design by adding different shapes in various colors and sizes.

I’m trying to find new and different ways to use these shapes. I love that they are now an option. The shapes can be resized and the color may be changed. You can have images and text overlay the shape. This is great if you want to use the shape as a frame behind the picture.

This is a block of my home page. I’m not going to keep the stars but I do think this is fun.

Adding Shapes to any block is simple. In the edit mode of any block select the Add block in the upper left hand corner. Choose Shape from the list of items to add.

From here you can decide the shape, color, outline and outline thickness. There are also options to have a shadow or blur. There are so many different options and so many different way to emphasize a part of your webpage.

Have fun with this feature. You can try different ways to use it throughout many different websites.

Squarespace has an article all about Shape Blocks.
