How do I get started with a Small Business website in 2023?

Is your business ready for the new year?

This is a blog I have updated each year. Having a business website is very important. It could be as simple as a landing page to let people know who you are and what you do or it can sell items, set up appointments, and showcase all that you do.

It doesn’t matter if you are a new business, or you have been around for a while. Congratulations on both fronts! Having a place to call “home” online that you can update is great for any business. Social media is nice way to draw clients in but it’s nice to have a home base to house everything.

One of my first blogs last year was How do I get started with a website for a Small Business in 2021 and last year I updated that blog with How do I get started with a website for a Small Business in 2022. I’m going to copy some of this information from both blogs and build on it for the upcoming year.

I am honored to create a website for a small business or nonprofit organization. Speaking to so many people that are so passionate about their work is amazing in and of itself. Helping them to create a website that will be able to change and grow with them and their business is something I love to do.

Many businesses have changed during the pandemic and continue to do so. Your website should be able to be updated quickly and easily changed to meet your needs. Squarespace is a great platform to build your website since it is so easy to make changes and updates that are needed now more than ever. Some businesses need a brochure website where they can highlight their business and tell current clients and prospective clients what they do. Other small businesses need to also build a website to sell goods or services. Squarespace has the tools to handle small business needs and with the right website designer you will have your website presence in place.

Finding the right person to meet the needs of your business is especially important. You will want to start off by having a conversation with the designer and find out about how their website design business works. Make sure to talk about pricing and timeframes.

·       Does the designer hear what I am saying?

·       Will the website designer teach me how to make changes to my website?

·       What fees, if any, will be paid to the designer monthly/yearly?

·       Is this the timeframe I am looking for?

Your business website should be working 24/7.

·       Build a homepage to welcome clients and potential clients.

·       Include pictures and/or videos of what your business does or what your business sells.

·       Build a contact list for newsletters.

·       Link to your social media sites.

·       Include ecommerce to sell online.

One of the biggest hurdles I have experienced with small businesses and nonprofits is that a website and the yearly maintenance fees are too expensive. May Web Design, LLC creates affordable websites that enable clients to take ownership and update themselves on a Squarespace platform. I enjoy helping clients increase customer engagement with a website and improve their overall web presence. The most important part of my business is that when I have completed and reviewed the website with a client, I teach the client how to update their website so that they can keep it fresh and new. A website offers a 24/7 welcome to prospective members, showing them what your business or organization has accomplished and what you plan to do. If built correctly it should welcome people to the site and show them around in a comfortable way.

If you are interested in discussing the needs of a website for your business or nonprofit organization, contact May Web Design, LLC. Starting out with a basic brochure website may be all that your business or organization needs. Your website should grow with you and change as needed.

I work with my clients so that I may design the website they envision and, most importantly, teach them how to update their website to keep the information fresh and new. While you are busy building your small business, I can create a website to grow with your dreams. I have a list of services on my website as well as a portfolio of my websites and testimonial from past clients.
