Creating a color palette for your website to compliment your brand is an important part of creating your website. You want to give a great first impression and set the tone. If you are an established business your customers or members will already be familiar with your business or organization color scheme.

When setting up your business or organization you normally chose a name, logo, and colors to identify who you are. The color palette of your website in Squarespace are the color choices for your backgrounds and fonts.

Squarespace make creating your color palette easy. There are suggested palettes or customized color combinations. If you currently have a logo with your designated colors, you can upload the logo or picture and Squarespace will match those colors.

Changing your color palette in Squarespace will change all your colors. Keep this in mind before clicking Save

Once you are in your Squarespace website there are two areas to go to make changes to your colors. Both ways will have the same result - you will be in the Site Styles area.

  • Home Menu > Design > Site Styles

  • When editing a page click on the Paintbrush icon in the upper right-hand corner.

Once in Site Styles click on Colors. This will take you to the area to edit your palette. There are a few customizable areas to create or change your color palette.

  1. In the Palette Editor you can click on one of the five circles and customize each color independently using the Color Picker.

  1. There is a Preset selection menu that has color palette choices in place. This is a good place to start if beginning your website.

  1. In the From Image selection, you can download an image (logo, picture, etc.) and Squarespace will give you a color palette based on the colors of that image.

  1. The From Color selection will give you Monochrome, Complementary, or Analogous color selections.

Making a good first impression for visitors to your website is an important part of welcoming and showing potential customers or members who you are and what you do. Create colors that reflect your current logo or color scheme. These will be easily identified to your customers or members. Good luck and remember once you click Save you have chosen new colors.
