Creating a QR code
QR stands for Quick Response. A QR code is simply a barcode that is easily readable with a digital device. You can use the camera app on your phone and this little QR code redirects to a website. For marketing purposes alone this is amazing. Why not put it on your business card and make flyers that contain less information but when someone scans your QR code they can be directed to your website and can explore from there.
This is the one I created for my business. If you use the camera app on your phone you will be directed to the www.maywebdesign.com home page of my website.
What is a QR code use for?
A QR code stores information in pixels so when the barcode is read it can automatically launch or redirected you to a website. Instead of giving out flyers with lots of information a QR code on a business card when scanned can bring a visitor to your website.
How does a QR code work?
A QR code is like a barcode. You scan the code with your camera app and it opens a URL.
How are QR codes created?
I found a wonderful website: QRCodeMonkey. I like this website as it is very user friendly and FREE (always nice to hear). Once you key in all the information you can download and use your new QR code. If you’re not happy with it, change it.
You enter all or some of the following information:
the URL that you would like your QR code to open. It could be your home page, another page in your website, a video, etc. Whatever URL you connect will be uploaded.
colors (there are many choices here). Make sure to have your brand colors.
your company logo. This is placed in the center of the QR code. I have a couple logos so I chose the basic logo without words at the bottom so it would appear larger.
then you chose how to customize your design. This is the fun part of the project.
How easy is it to create a QR code using the QRCodeMonkey website?
I set up the colors and logo and let me daughter (under 10) customize the QR code design. I love it and she did an amazing job.
How long can you use a QR code?
There are no scan limits or limitation on time for QRCodeMonkey QR codes. Use the QR code for a long time or change it.
Once you have completed your QR code and are happy with your customization you can download it. Try scanning the QR code to make sure it goes to the website and page that you want it to go to.
