Have you ever ordered something online and the website suggested another product that either goes with the item you want or is similar? That’s a great way to market your products. Sometimes you will change what you will purchase and sometimes you could add the other item and order more. By showing related items you are encouraging the visitor on your website to explore more options.

To begin:

Home Menu > Commerce > Related Products

Turn the toggle on for Show Related Products.

You can change the Section Title. This is the wording that will display over the suggested related products. You may change the wording from the default, You Might Also Like.

There is a drop-down menu to choose how the options will be shown.

• Random

• Recently added

• Highest Quantity

Once completed, make sure you click Save in the upper left-hand corner.

How Related Products are Displayed

Before you start make sure that you have Categories and Tags for each item in your inventory. See my latest blog on Squarespace Basics: Categories and Tags.

Go into the product editor (either Home Menu > Commerce > Inventory > Click on product to edit OR Home Menu > Pages > Shopping > Category to select > Hover over item and click three buttons to the right and click Edit.

Scroll down to Related Products under Customize. This is the area where you can choose the Categories or Tags to appear as Related Item.

What information is displayed for Related Products

1. Thumbnail image

2. Title

3. Price

You can click on the item to take you to the product detail.

This will depend on the template used for your website.

Related Products may be Disabled at any time:

Home Menu > Commerce > Related Products

Click the toggle off to Show Related Products.

Remember to click Save in the upper left-hand corner.

Visitors can find the item they are looking for and discover new products while on the website. This is a good way to show visitors other products that you offer. Try it out and good luck!
