After designing and reviewing a website with clients the most exciting part is making the website go LIVE! It’s a simple click of the button but once a website goes LIVE the nonprofit organization or small business is now public and out there on the internet for all to see. I know when I clicked the button for my business website to go public, I was full of emotions. I still remember that moment. I still change my website often but that first click of the button to let everyone see my business was a BIG moment for me.

As a default the website is marked as Private from the beginning.

To change Site Availability:

Home Menu/Settings/Site Availability

There are three options for the Site Availability.

Public - To choose this option you must have a paid pricing plan through Squarespace. Once paid for, this is the choice for everyone to see your website. You can still change your website but once made public anyone can see your URL.

Password Protected - To choose this option you must have a paid website through Squarespace. Once paid for, you may choose this option to have a password keyed in to view your website. I have created websites for clients where they pay for the Squarespace hosting but want others to view the website before they launch and go LIVE. If you are doing major changes to your website, you can change the toggle to password protected for a time.

Private - This is the default for any website, paid or unpaid. Owners and contributors can view the private website.

Toggles can be changed at any time by the owner and administrators.
