Squarespace Basics: Button Design

This is a new feature on Squarespace introduced in late 2021. I absolutely love when Squarespace makes even the smallest change. These changes allow you to customize your website and really make it your own.

Button Blocks are a useful tool while building or updating your website. It is a visual way to link information to another source and can be customized throughout your website. With even more customization you can make your Button or, in marketing terms CTA (call to action), really stand out.

Buttons are such useful tools. Just by clicking on a button you can direct your client or member to more information:

  • Page - link a page from your website

  • Web Address - link an external website

  • File - link external content

  • Email - link the button to an email address which will populate in a new email

  • Phone - link the button to a phone number

I wrote a blog detailing Button Blocks in Squarespace 7.1.

Now Squarespace has added more design options for your buttons, and I love it! More customization for myself and my clients.

Let’s customize:

My website has Let’s Talk buttons so visitors to my website can click on this button and email me directly. I’ll use my buttons as an example.

Home Menu/Design/Site Styles/Buttons

  1. Style - There are only two options here: Solid or outline.

Solid

Outline

2. Shape - This is where you can really customize.

Square

Rounded

Pill

Oval

Underline

Petal

3. Padding - This area lets you make your button small or large. It’s a slide that you can move to the left or right to change the size of you button.

Remember - changes to your button will be made throughout your website to each button.

I think my favorite for my website is solid oval. Next week that may change but it is so easy to make changes to Squarespace websites.

Enjoy!

May Web Design, LLC refreshes and creates affordable websites that enable clients to take ownership and update themselves on a Squarespace platform. I enjoy helping clients increase customer engagement with a website and improve their overall web presence. The most important part of my business is that when I have completed and reviewed the website with a client, I teach the client how to update their website so that they can keep it fresh and new. A website offers a 24/7 welcome to prospective members, showing them what your business or organization has accomplished and what you plan to do. If built correctly it should welcome people to the site and show them around in a comfortable way.

If you are interested in discussing the needs of a website for your business or nonprofit organization contact May Web Design, LLC. Starting out with a basic brochure website may be all that your business or organization needs. Your website should grow with you and change as needed.
