Button Blocks are also called calls to action or CTA’s. Buttons can be linked to your website, external content, email address or phone number. This is an invitation to the user to take the next step.  

Here is an example of a Button Block I have on my business website. The Let’s Talk Button will take you to an email with my email address already populated for further discussion.

Button Blocks are a useful tool while building or updating your website. It is a visual way to link information to another source and can be customized throughout your website. The actual button itself may even be customized as you can change the color and shape. 

It is amazingly easy and quick to add buttons to your Squarespace website. In the Squarespace 7.1 version you can add a button in the Edit mode to the:

• Block Section in the body of the website.

• Footer area that displays at the bottom of each page.

Click on the plus sign about the block to add a Basic element. Chose Button. Once chosen you can update the Content and the Design. 

Content:  

Text - Create unique text for your button. 

Link - There are several ways to link information.  

• Page - link a page from your website 

• Web Address - link an external website 

• File - link external content 

• Email - link the button to an email address which will populate in a new email 

• Phone - link the button to a phone number 

Design: 

• The size of the button can be altered. Squarespace gives you the choice of small, medium, and large. 

• The alignment of the button may be altered. Squarespace gives you a choice of left, middle, or right aligned.  

To further change the Button design, click the paint brush in the upper right-hand corner. This will open Site Styles. Click Buttons and you will have two additional way to customize the button. With even more customization you can make your Button or, in marketing terms CTA (call to action), really stand out.  

• Style - choices are solid color or outline 

• Shape - choices are square, rounded or pill 

Buttons can also be added in the header and footer section.

Throughout your website there may be various Buttons that link to all or a few of the outlined sources. The visitor on your site can reach you in your desired way through these buttons and through the buttons you can create easy next steps for potential clients.
